SWAMP RATS NAME PEREIRA HEAD COACH

(Salem, NH 8/12/08) Boston Swamp Rats General Manager announced today that the team has named former Massachusetts Bombers Owner, General Manager, and head coach Alan Pereira as their new head coach effective immediately.

"This is a huge addition to the organization" remarked Hailey. "Al has been the architect of a winning tradition throughout the years with the Bombers and we are confident that he will bring that same level of success with him to the Swamp Rats. His resume', filled with years of fielding highly competitive teams both on the tournament cicuit as well as within other upper echelon leagues, give us great optimism that he will be able to make an immediate impact on the organization. We are expecting even bigger things for the '08-'09 season after a playoff appearance last year now that Al is on board."

Swamp Rats Asst. General Manager and Co-Captain Michael Hunt shared Hailey's excitement when the agreement was announced. "Alan Pereira has been a dear friend of mine for many years and I've always been a fan of what he has been able to accomplish with the Bombers. It's an understatement when I say that I am extremely happy that our paths have once again crossed and I am looking forward to working with and playing for him. Al would be a great assett to any inline hockey organization and the Boston Swamp Rats are very fortunate that he has chosen to join forces with us."

After a vacation in Virginia Beach, VA Pereira is expected to gather the squad for the 1st of what will be a number of practices and team meetings as the Swamp Rats prepare for their inaugural season in the newly formed American Inline Hockey League. In a related story, the organization is proud to announce that Pereira has agreed to work the bench for the Samp Rats' minor league affilliate, the Holbrook Swamp Donkeys.

1ST ORGANIZATIONAL FUNDRAISER ANNOUNCED!

(Salem, NH 8/6/08) Boston Swamp Rats / Holbrook Swamp Donkeys General Manager Ruppy Hailey has announced that the entire organization will be holding it's 1st fundraiser of the 2008-2009 season on the outside turfed field at the team's home rink, the Holbrook Sports Center, on Saturday August 23rd. The event being held will be a Wiffle Ball Tournament. The 1st pitch will be thrown at 11:00 AM.

BOSTON SWAMP RATS ANNOUNCE 2nd TRYOUT

As a result of an overwhelming number of requests from players who were unable to attend the 1st tryout on 8/2/08, the Boston Swamp Rats / Holbrook Swamp Donkeys organization have scheduled a 2nd tryout date.

On Saturday afternoon August 16, 2008 from 3:00 'till 5:00 PM, players will once again be evaluated by team management as the teams prepare for the "09-"09 season.

The team cordially invites any and all players to tryout, as there are still a number of available spots at both the major and minor levels. The cost once again is $25 for players who were rostered on the '07-'08 Swamp Rats / Swamp Donkeys and $40 for those who were not affiliated with either team. As an added bonus, players who attended the team's 1st tryout are invited (and even urged) back to skate in the 2nd tryout free of charge.

Rats fall in OT of deciding playoff game to end season
The Boston Swamp Rats season came to an end in overtime of Game Three in Long Island on the weekend of May 3rd. The Rats dropped game one, but won game two in OT to force the third and deciding game. OT would be needed in game three, and Long Island scored on a powerplay, ending the Rats season earlier than hoped.
